RCA Development cricket team star Orchide Tuyisenge has warmed rival teams that the youthful side is good enough to genuinely challenge for trophies in their debut season.

The 16-year-old Tuyisenge has been on a remarkable form for the RCA development side in the ongoing Computer Point T20 tournament.

In their first three games, Tuyisenga has scored 114 runs and claimed 12 wickets, and will be hoping to add to his tally with both bat and ball when his youthful side faces Right Guards on Sunday at Kicukiro cricket ground where a win will secure the RCA team a place in the semi-finals.

Last weekend, the youngster helped his team beat Kerala Hunters by 9 wickets. He had four dismissals including that of Kerala Hunters’ star player Pravith Raj, for a second ball duck.

The RCA Development team was established in May this year with the main objective to nurture future Rwanda internationals. The team is comprised of player below the age of 19 years, with all-rounder Bosco Tuyisenge as their captain.

In their first tournament, they have performed exceptionally well, defeating Kigali Cricket Club (KCC) and Kerala Hunters but lost against Kigali Warriors.

"Our target is to qualify to the final, once we get there, then anything is possible as far winning the title is concerned,” said Tuyisenge, before adding that, "our first appearance in any local competitions has not been a disappointment so far and we want to keep the momentum going.”

KCC have already qualified to the semi-finals from this group and now the battle for the remaining spot is between Right Guards and RCA Development team.

They are both tied on 4 points, heading into the winner-takes-all game today. From Group B, Challengers and Indorwa CC have qualified to the last four.
