The race for the 2016 handball league title remains wide open with only five games left to play as bitter rivals Police and APR continue their neck-and-neck battle.
Defending champions Police, who have played a game less, will today travel to Nyabihu District, Western Province for their crucial match day 13 encounter against second from bottom Groupe Scolaire Rambura, seeking to grab all three points to dethrone APR from the summit of the table standing, with the latter just a point ahead of their rivals.
The military side, who have only lost to Police this season, i overcame Ecole Secondaire Kigoma 45-41 in a tightly contested first round league game on Saturday at Kigoma ground to claim top spot with 37 points.
The two-time defending champions are seeking to continue their unbeaten streak in a season in which they have already won the Heroes Day and Genocide memorial tournament titles, while APR are bidding for their first league title since 2009.
Police are still to play Ecole Secondaire Urumuri, University of Rwanda’s College of Education and the College of Arts and Social Sciences, College Inyeramihigo, and APR.
