Rwanda cyclists set for debut in Grand Prix of Wales

RWANDA international quartet of riders makes debut in the annual Grand Prix of Wales today, one of the national series of major events on the British cycling calendar. The race also marks the end of the 2016 Abergavenny Festival of Cycling.

RWANDA international quartet of riders makes debut in the annual Grand Prix of Wales today, one of the national series of major events on the British cycling calendar. The race also marks the end of the 2016 Abergavenny Festival of Cycling.

The four U-23 riders include; the 2015 Tour du Rwanda champion Jean Bosco Nsengimana, Joseph Areruya, Jean Claude Uwizeye and Samuel Mugisha. The will be under Team Rwanda head trainer Sterling Magnell.

Team Rwanda is making a historic maiden appearance in the UK Cycling Tour which is comprised of 12 road races and circuits. The Abergavenny Road Race, first run in 1985, is one of the toughest races on the British Calendar. 

According to Magnell, the UK Racing Tour is a good platform for the quartet, "The team is in good shape after a strong showing at the recent Vuelta a Colombia. The UK racing tour is a vital in the continued development of the young cyclists.”
