RE: "Govt secures Rwf130.7bn loan for key road repair works” (The New Times, July 14).

This is a good move. The rehabilitation of the Rusumo-Kayonza road is a long awaited project given the state of the road today. The road is narrow and older to serve the demand of the transportation sector that is booming in Rwanda and across the region.

This project is expected to provide employment opportunities to thousands of Rwandans. Youth should stand to tap in this important project that is likely to earn them money for two years.

Above all, we should be able to supervise and build quality road with international standards.

The road should reserve lanes for cyclists and pedestrians, but must in the first place be equipped with cameras so that traffic police can easily monitor security.

The culture of manning roads is outdated, cumbersome for the traffic police, and, above all, it’s very friendly to all evils and crimes committed by both drivers and criminals.
