Speaking to Time Sport, RAC president Christian Gakwaya, said that the event has been moved to September and they’re working around the clock to make sure it takes place.
"Initially, we had planned to have the race either at Gahanga or Kimironko but unfortunately none of the two venues was ready and so we are looking forward to have it in September at an appropriate venue,” he explained.
He added, "We shall confirm the new venue, and so far we have over eight local riders and plans are underway to invite freestyle Motocross (FMX) riders as well as other riders from neighboring countries.”
Motocross is a form of off-road motorcycle racing held on enclosed off-road circuits, the sports evolved from motorcycle trials competitions. RAC organized the first motocross event in October 2014 in Huye district.
Meanwhile after the Fourth Round of 2016 African Rally Championship in Tanzania last weekend, focus will turn to Rwanda for the Mountain Gorilla Rally slated from August 12-14 in Gako, Bugesera district in the Eastern Province.
"After the Tanzania rally, we shall know how the number of foreign drivers who will be coming to Rwanda. At the moment, we’re having talks with major sponsors to come on board,” said RAC spokesperson, Francois Cyatangabo.
