Rayon Sports striker Davis Kasirye is poised to join DR Congo’s most successful club Daring Club Motema Pembe on a two-year contract, the player confirmed in an exclusive interview with Times Sport.
The 20-year old lanky forward was signed from Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) at the start of this season on a three-year contract. He has since netted 13 league goals with two matches left and helped Rayon Sports to a Peace Cup title after 14 years of waiting.
Speaking to Times Sport on Thursday, the Ugandan striker, who earned his maiden call up in the national team this year, revealed that an agreement had been reached between him and DC Motema Pembe and will travel to Kinshasha next week to put pen to paper.
"Yes, I have agreed with Motema Pembe and they have accepted to buy out my remaining two years with Rayon Sports, and next week I will be going to Kinshasa to sign the contract,” said Kasirye.
In a separate interview, Rayon Sports secretary general Olivier Gakwaya, acknowledged that indeed negotiations are ongoing between the 2016 Peace Cup holders and DC Motema Pembe over the transfer of the striker but said that the two sides are yet to reach a mutual agreement.
He said: "Motema Pembe approached us recently inquiring about the availability of Kasirye, they are willing to buy out the remaining years on his contract but as for now nothing has been agreed between the two clubs.”
Kasirye is the latest player set to leave Rayon Sports this season after Malian Ismaila Diarra, who has already agreed terms with Kenyan Premier League side AFC Leopards.
