Meat and music lovers were on Saturday treated to a memorable evening at the second edition of the Nyama Choma Extravaganza that took place at La Palisse Hotel Nyandungu.
Uganda’s promising dancehall star Alexander Bagonza, commonly known as A Pass put up a good performance before the excited revellers who enjoyed a variety of sumptuous grilled meats.
The annual mouth-watering festival which attracted people of all ages was a success compared to the previous one which was stopped by police at 7:30pm
The day kicked off at mid-day with a host of local deejays including VJ Miller, DJ Nano, DJ Gil Low, and DJ SelektaCopain creating a musical atmosphere as many waited for A Pass’s performance.
The singer stepped on stage at exactly 10pm performing most of his hit songs including Yuh Don Know Mi and Gamululu, proving to the audience that his growing popularity is based on what he can do on the stage.
Indeed A-Pass was welcomed with loud cheers from excited fans as he performed for over 30 minutes, forcing those who were seated in the sprawling gardens to come closer to the stage.
He sang some of the songs that have made him popular including Memories which he features Lillian Mbabazi, Mariana, Trouble Maker, TuriKubigere, Give me a kiss and Nva Kampala among others.
A-Pass’s first performance in Rwanda was described as the best by many of his fans who turned up for the event.
"I am so happy tonight for A-Pass’s performance. Although the singer delayed to come on stage, we were thrilled by his dancehall and stage presence. He engages his audience,”said Christine Gasaro, one of the revellers.
"I think we need to have as many entertainment events like this one to spice up Kigali’s social life. This is not only good for us but also tourists and people coming for meetings,” said Richard Mutsinzi, another reveller.
The Nyama Choma extravaganza ended towards midnight as revellers headed to K Club for the after party.
