Rayon Sports and SC Kiyovu face off in the national football league on Sunday afternoon at Kigali Regional Stadium in Nyamirambo, kick off at 3:30pm.

Fresh from winning the 2016 Peace Cup after beating archrivals APR FC 1-0 in the final on Monday, Rayon Sports, who are second in the league table with 57 points, went on lose against already relegated AS Muhanga on Wednesday, to hand the title to APR (67 points) with a game to play.

The former champion will be looking to bounce back after the midweek shock loss when they host fourth-placed SC Kiyovu before heading to Rusizi for another tricky tie against Espoir next Wednesday.

"We have to forget what happened on Wednesday and try to get back to winning. We need to work hard because the game against SC Kiyovu will be even tougher,” said Rayon Sports interim head coach Djuma Masudi.

SC Kiyovu have won three league titles since its establishment in 1964 while Rayon Sports has won the title seven times since 1968, with the latest coming in 2013 under Frenchman Didier Gomez da Rosa.

Sunday’s clash will be the 42nd meeting between the two rivals over the past 21 years, with Rayon Sports enjoying the lion’s share of success on 22 wins against just five for SC Kiyovu and they have drawn 14 times.

Elsewhere, fifth-placed Police FC, who sacked head coach Andre Casa Mbungo last week, will be up against Marines at Kicukiro stadium, while Etincelles entertain Bugesera FC at Umuganda stadium in Rubavu.
