Rwanda and APR FC goalkeeper Oliver Kwizera will next week fly to South Africa for talks over a possible move to the ABSA Premiership side Maritzburg United FC, Times Sport has learnt.

The former Isonga FC player, who has one year left on his four-year contract with the new league champions, confirmed the news on Thursday, saying that he’s only waiting for a visa.

"Yes, it’s true I am planning to fly to South Africa early next week for talks with Maritzburg United officials and I hope everything goes well,” Kwizera said.

Sources say the ABSA Premiership side are willing to offer him a two-year contract.

Maritzburg United are the second South African club to express interest in the 20-year old goalkeeper following Bidvest Wits, who sought his services early last year and gave him trials but couldn’t sign him due to paperwork issues.

Kwizera inspired APR to the record 16th league title this season as the undisputed first choice between the sticks.

He joined the club in 2013.

Kwizera also won the Peace Cup with the military side in 2014 and was a key part of APR when they reached the final of the 2014 regional CECAFA Kagame Cup final in Kigali, which they lost to Sudanese giants Al-Merreikh.

If Kwizera secures a professional move to Maritzburg United, he will become the second Rwandan to play for the club after former Amavubi forward Jimmy Gatete, who featured for them during the 2004-2005 season.
