The Race for Culture, part of Rwanda Cycling Cup, has been postponed to July 23, according to the organizers, the Rwanda Cycling Federation (FERWACY).
Initially, the race was supposed to start on July 9 (Nyamagage–Nyanza + circuit), but FERWACY secretary general Emmanuel Murenzi said, "Due to the various major events taking place in the country, we decided to call off the race this weekend and push it to July 23.”
"We apologise to Rwandans for any inconveniences caused as a result of these changes,” Murenzi added.
Rwanda is in the final stages of preparations for the 27th African Union Heads of State and Government Summit, scheduled next week.
The annual Rwanda Cycling Cup, which started last year, is made of eleven races. It is organised by FERWACY in collaboration with Skol and Cogebanque in a bid to promote cycling talent among Rwandans.
Competitors earn points from each race and after which a national champion is announced. The race aims at detecting young talent.
The 2015 Tour du Rwanda champion, Jean Bosco Nsengimana, who rides for Germany-based Bike Aid, is the Rwanda Cycling Cup defending champion.
