Rayon Sports midfielder Abdul Uwimana has been ruled out of today’s league clash against Electrogaz at Mironko ground. The right winger has a sore ankle and has been replaced by the U-20 national team star Aphrodise Hategekimana.
The blues coach Raoul Shungu desperately needs a win to give Rayon’s title ambitions a new face lift. Tanzanian import Joseph Kaniki was also scheduled to undergo a late fitness test after suffering a dead leg.
The big striker got the knock during Rayon’s 1-0 loss in Wednesday’s friendly game against the U-20 national side. Shungu said, "We need a win over Electrogaz to try and close the gap on Atraco.”
Apart from Uwimana and Hategekimana, the Congolese born tactician is expected to stick to the same team that pulled off a 1-1 draw last weekend at Amagaju. After a good start, Electrogaz are plotting for an upset.
"I have no injury worries and I’m focusing on winning tomorrow,” the Electrogaz coach Abdul Mbarushimana said.
Rayon Sport and Electrogaz are on level points (seven). Elsewhere, leaders Atraco host Amagaju at Shorongyi grounds this afternoon. The taxi-men are eager to bounce back from last weekend’s 1-0 defeat against Kibuye.
Record nine-time league champions APR host Marines in Gitarama. APR is a point down to Atraco.
