Rwandan Paralympian Hermas Muvunyi is confident about his chances of winning a gold medal at the forthcoming Berlin Open Grand Prix, scheduled for July 16-17 in Germany.

Fresh from a two-week training camp in Ngog, Kenya, the former World champion in the Men 800m-T46 category, told Times Sport that he wants to use the two-day international event as his final test before heading to the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games set for September 7-18.

"I want to use this tournament to guage where I am standing before the Paralympic Games—it’s a great opportunity to test myself against some of the best Paralympians, some of whom have qualified for Rio,” he said in an interview on Sunday.

Muvunyi had an outstanding 2015 season, which culminated in qualifying for the 2016 Paralympics Games both in 400m-T46 and 1500m-T46.

The Berlin Open Grand Prix is expected to attract top athletes from all over the world, who will be eager to test themselves ahead of the Rio Paralympics Games. Athletes who have not yet qualified will also use the event to book tickets.
