Moving the busy streets, with cars honking, taxi drivers shouting: "Kireka. Banda. maama ogenda”, the morning rush in Kampala always has lots of surprises.

The guys dressed in G-unit, Fubu and Timberland designer apparels are hooked onto getting seated next to gorgeous girls, flipping over their mobile phones, drawing out their "heavy” wallets to just buy a copy of the leading weekly to impress the damsels.

Alex Kyomuhendo, 23, (not his real name) was stuck on impressing the girl next door for three months but his efforts had been futile.

He believed that girls are only attracted to great looking, sexy and rich guys. He thought they ran after looks and money.
So how can you impress a girl?

Seems like a tough question. Well the true art of impressing girls lies in the simple fact that they are not impressed by anything fake.

"The guys tend to act like someone else just in order to impress girls but never succeed with it. The key here is to be as original as possible in order to impress your girl,” says Sarah Bukenya, 35, a businesswoman in Kampala.

She says if you want a smart girl, then you have to be somewhat different. Make your own distinction to get noticed in a crowd.

"Your girl will definitely notice you and try to know you and what kind of a person you are.”

Bukenya says when guys try to impress the girls they tend to become unauthentic and show off.

"Girls are not impressed by such tactics and would end up putting you in the "Show off” category. The best way to impress a girl is to be yourself and let things happen automatically.” Building a new relationship on fake identity will never bring success, she warns.

Atwine Dickson, a 29 year old counselor in Kampala advises that women like real men. He says in a bid to impress, natural talent works.

"If you thought that girls are impressed by money and material things all the time then you are highly mistaken,” he says.

Dickson says the best way to impress a girl and retain your status is by the way you talk and present yourself. You need girls to respect you for what you are and not what you possess. He says girls are impressed by intellectual men and this is a fact.

"Even a dumb woman will always seek a smart and intellectual man, so it is obvious what a smart woman seeks for,” he says.
He adds that girls normally get hit on by several men everyday and almost all those men try to impress them with all they’ve got.

"If you are doing and following the same tactics as all those men then you would never succeed,” he says.

"Try to develop your intellectual skills. This can be done by the way to reading books and being up to date with the latest happenings. Remember being a good talker is the foundation of impressing almost any girl,” he advises.

Dickson says a bit of an attitude always works for a real man when he wants to impress a woman of substance.

"Keep a certain attitude in you, after all, you are not that common. Do not be so approachable that others start taking you for granted,” he says.

"The tougher the journey to a destination, the sweeter the destination becomes. Let her take some pains to get you. Do not let her know that you want her, otherwise this will break the mystery in her mind for which she is facing problems,” he says.
