Former Rwanda International players will play a warm up game against Uganda Internationals on June 30 in a friendly charity match at Amahoro National Stadium.
The match is a tribute to the late Amavubi coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira. The ex-internationals will give donations to Ntagwabira’s family as a sign of solidarity and recognition for his contribution to the development of football in Rwanda.
The development was confirmed by Jimmy Mulisa, a former Amavubi forward and current FERWAFA assistant technical director who also doubles as the Amavubi assistant coach.
Mulisa said the game is also an opportunity for sports fans to meet the ex international players.
The game is also expected to inspire upcoming footballers who have never met the ex-internationals, and only watched them on TV competing in several AFCON qualifiers and the eventual 2004 Tunis AFCON final which was Rwanda’s maiden appearance.
The Ugandan team was expected to arrive in Kigali last night.
