Hoops: IPRC South coach tips players ahead of decisive game

IPRC South interim head coach Charles Mushumba has urged his players to be more consistent if they are to wrestle the playoffs title from archrivals Espoir when they meet on Friday in the semi-final decisive game.

Mushumba made the remarks after the southern based side displayed an outstanding performance in the second game of the semi-finals against defending champions Espoir which they beat 65-56 to bring the best-of-three series back to balance having lost the first game by 71-76 points.

"We suffered a lot of defensive errors in the first game but we tried to rectify them before the second game. We were more determined and that helped us win the game,” said Mushumba

"However, I have cautioned my players not to lose concentration and focus on our final crucial game because it’s the decisive game,” he added.

The final decisive games are set for this Friday at Amahoro indoor stadium. Likewise Patriots and IPRC-Kigali are tied at 1-1. Patriots won Game 1 on Friday night 59-56, but they were stunned 74-68 in Game 2 on Sunday at Amahoro indoor stadium.

In the women’s finals series, Ubumwe Basketball Club, are one win away from claiming this year’s title after defeating defending champions, APR in Games 1&2 on Saturday and Sunday 55-52 and 52-48 respectively.

Game 3 will be played on Sunday.

For the third-place playoff, The Hoops Rwanda are odds on to win the title having registered two wins in Games 1&2 against IPRC-South. They won the first game 48-41 and the second, 56-52.
