Police Football Club have sacked their head coach Andre Casa Mbungo after a run of poor results that has seen the club end the season empty-handed.

Andre Casa Mbungo.

The former AS Kigali tactician guided Police FC to the Peace Cup title last season and their main target for this campaign was to challenge for the league title.

However, with two matches to wind up the league season, the law enforcers’ side is fifth in the table and with no chance of even finishing in the top three.

In midweek, Casa Mbungo and his team were eliminated from the Peace Cup at the round of 16 by national football league rivals Amagaju FC 7-6 on penalty shootouts.

Casa Mbungo joined Police FC two years ago from AS Kigali, signing a three-year contract, and he guided them to their first Peace Cup title.

"I can confirm that Casa Mbungo is no longer coach of Police FC because he hasn’t fulfilled his duties. We have asked him to step down after a series of poor results. The club will look for another coach in the coming days,” a club official told Sunday Sport.

Efforts to get a comment from Police FC spokesperson, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Jean de Dieu Mayira, proved futile as he did not to respond our phone calls. The team will be under assistant coach; Maurice "Maso” Nshimiyimana until a new permanent coach is signed.
