GASABO - Regional high ranking police officials on Thursday concluded a course on leadership, management, organisation and handling of security issues.

The one month course known as the East African Commander Course was mainly to enhance security skills among police in the region and was conducted by Bramshill Centre, a British Central Police Training and Development Authority. 

The course held at the national police headquarters in Kacyiru was attended by 25 police officers; 20 of whom were from Rwanda, 2 from Kenya and 3 from Burundi.

In her closing remarks, the Acting Commissioner General of Police Mary Gahonzire said that all countries involved are to benefit highly from the training.

"This is a result oriented course that focuses on different policies and those who have attained the skills will definitely help the other policemen to deliver improved services,” she underscored.

"It has been a very good course and we should not forget that international threat from organised crime can only be defeated with police working together and sharing experiences within the region,” the Head of Corporate Development Department at Sussex police in Britain, Supt. Dick Barton, said.  

This is the third EA Commander Course that has been held in Rwanda where regional police officials share experiences and brainstorm on matters of security.
