RNOSC to mark International Olympic Day in Huye

Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee (RNOSC) will mark the 2016 International Olympic Day, onJune 23, in Huye district, Southern Province.

The event held under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is a platform for people to experience the magic of the Olympic Games in their own communities.

The day which is celebrated by Olympians all over the world, is aimed at celebrating the founding of the International Olympic Committee and the modern Olympic Movement by Pierre de Coubertain in 1894.

In Rwanda, RNOSC, in partnership with Ecole Internationale des Parents de Butare, will host special events, activities and festivals aimed at ensuring that the positive values of the Olympic Movement, excellence, friendship and respect, are promoted.

According to RNOSC, the day will be marked by activities in athletics, tennis, football as well as karate.

The Olympic Day, held annually on June 23, is celebrated by millions of people in more than 160 countries.
