In a bid to expand the existing network and accommodate growing numbers of clients, Western Union, an international electronic money transfer company has opened two more branches in Kigali City.

The branches in Kicukiro and Nyamirambo will be operated by Rwanda Commercial Bank (BCR).

The launch of the branches is part of BCR’s strategy to widen the Western Union network across the country.

 "With our increased network services, this is a guarantee to Rwandans that they can receive quick money transfers from their loved ones,” said the Western Union Manager, Desire Gasare. 

"We are trying to make it easier for our clients to have a connection with their families, businesses abroad, by making receiving and transferring funds as convenient for anyone, as possible,” he added.

The two spacious branches are part of the existing Western Union sub-branches within BCR offices. BCR is the first recognised agent of Western Union money transfer service in Rwanda, with 60 per cent of the market share.

Electronic money transfer service still remains one of the fastest and reliable means of transferring and receiving funds globally.
