Peace Cup: Marines eye maiden title

Rayon Sports head coach Djuma Masudi will be looking to guide his team to this year’s Peace Cup quarter finals when they face Marines at Kigali regional Stadium, today.

Speaking to Times Sport ahead of the clash, Djuma Masudi expressed optimism about his team’s chances against Abdul Kalim ‘Coka’ Nduhirabandi’s side Marines, which will come into the game seeking to win a first ever major trophy in the club’s history.

"We know the game will be tough but we will try to cause them problems and also minimize any possible mistakes because Marines are an organized team,” Masudi said yesterday.

Marines’ coach Nduhirabandi said "It is going to be tough but this is the knockout stages and we have to give our best because there will be no return leg, so we must be focused and look for only a win.”

Elsewhere, defending champions, Police FC will meet Amagaju FC at Kamena turf, Isonga FC will be facing struggling AS Muhanga at Mumena Stadium while APR FC will play against Bugesera FC at Kicukiro Stadium after the game between SC Kiyovu and Sunrise FC.

In other games Espoir FC will play against La Jeunesse FC at Muhanga Regional Stadium, Enticelles FC take on AS Kigali at the same venue while Gicumbi FC will meet Mukura VS at FERWAFA turf.

The round of 1/8th will be played next Wednesday with eventual winners booking places in the quarter final round which will be played on June 25.

The semi-final round will be held in a two-legged format on June 28 and July 1 with winners proceeding to the final which will be played on June 4.

Police FC are defending champions while the winner for the tourney will represent Rwanda at next year’s CAF Orange Confederation Cup.
