Thousands of music lovers turned up in Ngoma District on Saturday to show support to their local stars in one of the most attended Primus Guma-Guma Super Star season 6 roadshows.

The musical show, held at St. Joseph Secondary School, proved just how local music is increasingly becoming popular as each of the 10 contestants of the annual music competition enjoyed considerable support.

Some of the people who interacted with The New Times revealed that they walked as far as 10km to come and see their favourite artistes.

By 2p.m, the emcees, Anita Pendo and Buryohe, were already on stage firing up the audience which was braving the scotching afternoon sun.

Rapper Young Grace was the opening act of the day, performing Atahahe and Sweet Poupou, which were evidently loved by the crowd before she gave way for Urban Boys.

The trio of Nizo, Safi and Humble Jizzo, got Ngoma residents on their feet dancing and singing along with them as they performed Till I Die and Barahurura. The group got a warm reception as was the case in Nyarugenge and Karongi districts during previous roadshows.

Jules Sentore was the next contestant on stage performing Kora Akazi and Ngera. The Gakondo singer tried to pick up from where Urban Boys had left off, though it appeared a bit of an uphill task.

Next to perform was rapper Danny Nanone, who arrived on stage with a bang. He performed Imbere n’inyuma before finishing his performance with Ikirori which saw the revellers to cheer him on.

Even though there were more performances to come, it appeared Danny Nanone had got the performance of the day.

Self-style diva Allioni, dressed in white panties and a red top, came on next and did her best to pull the crowd with her songs Narotaga and Impinduka before welcoming Gaby Umutare, who is known for smooth love songs and impressive vocals.

And, Umutare didn’t disappoint the music lovers as he performed Ayo Bavuga and Mesa Kamwe proving that even though he is a debutant, he has what it takes to go all the way.

Danny Vumbi took to the stage next and performed Baragowe and N’Uwacu during which he invited the Actor who featured in the video clip to help him to the delight of the Ngoma residents.

After Vumbi’s show of creativity, on came fellow debutants TBB who performed Biramvuna and Vuz’ingoma. The boy group, led by Tino, also tried to get the crowd moving.

But then all that was before RnB singer Bruce Melody arrived. You would think he is the only one the audience waited for as excitement went through the roof.
