Etincelles head coach Innocent Seninga has announced that he is open to extending his contract with the Rubavu-based national football league club, at the end of the season.
The former SC Kiyovu coach, who took over at the club in February from Ugandan Ibrahim Kizito when the club was in the bottom two and staring relegation in the face, has since turned around their fortunes, moving them clear of the danger zone.
With two games still to play, Etincelles are currently into the relative mid-table comfort, in 10th place with 29 points, ahead of Rwamagana City FC, who occupy the last of the two relegation spots.
"Given the relationship that I have built with the players and fans, I am ready to extend my contract with Entincelles. I will be happy to remain at the club if management needs my services,” Seninga told Times Sport on Friday.
Seninga took up the job at the start of the league’s second round when Etincelles were struggling with only four points from 15 matches.
The Rubavu-based side were relegated last season, but made an immediate return after FERWAFA, on request from the league sponsors, decided to increase the number of clubs in the top-tier football league from 14-16.
AS Muhanga were the other club that benefited from that decision but their season back in the topflight division has been a near nightmare, and their fate has already been decided—they will play in the second division next season.
