APR 35-28 GS Rambura

APR stomed the summit of the national handball league table standing for the first time this season following a 35-28 win over Groupe Scolaire Rambura on Saturday at Rambura ground.

The military side leapfrogged archrivals and two-time champions Police – who had their match against University of Rwanda, College of Education (UR-CE) postponed – to the top of the table.

Shaffiq Niyonkuru scored the game eight goals to help his side go top of the league table with 34 points, one point ahead.

"It is every encouraging that we are now on top, we are not giving up on the title until the final game when we face Police, which could be a title decider,” said APR head coach Anaclet Bagirishya.
