Rwanda U20 will face their counterparts from Morocco in a Genocide memorial football match today at Amahoro National Stadium; kick off at 3:30pm.

Morocco U-20 football team jetted into the country on Thursday afternoon, the same day that Jean Baptiste Kayiranga’s Junior Wasps started residential camp.

The game has been organised by the Rwanda football governing body, FERWAFA, in tribute to footballers, coaches, fans, administrators who were killed during the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi that claimed lives of over a million Rwandans.

Rwanda U20 assistant coach Vincent Mashami said they will give more players a chance which will give them confidence at the international level.

The match comes a week after Rwanda U20 team failed to progress to the final qualification round of the 2017 U20 AFCON finals tournament in Zambia, after losing 3-2 in spot kicks following a 1-all aggregate draw against Egypt in the second qualification round.

The home team will miss the service of central defenders Patrick Ndikumana (Rwamagana City) and Ange Mutsinzi (AS Muhanga), midfielders Kevin Muhire (Rayon Sports) and Aime Ntirushwa (Interforce FC), who are injured.

The inaugural edition staged last year, attracted four nations namely; Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania and hosts Rwanda, and was played on a round-robin format.
