The National Youth Council (NYC), in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and ICT (MYICT), other partners, have organised a national civic training and education (Itorero) for the youth leaders elected in the February local government elections.

The Itorero is taking place at the University of Rwanda, Huye-Campus, from June 15 to 20.

The civic education training was organised under the theme: ‘‘The Youth We Want.’’ It drew more than 800 Rwandan youths.

Civic education offers opportunity to young leaders to know and analyse the challenges that the youth are facing in the Rwandan community and find solutions

In her opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth & ICT, Rosemary Mbabazi, said that young people are the foundation of development which is why the government puts much emphasis on supporting them.

Phase one of the Itorero will end on June 20 while the second will run from June 22 to 27.
