Uganda’s Team No Sleep singer Sheebah Karungi will headline the Summer Beach Fest, which will take place on July 2 at Serena Kivu Beach in Rubavu town.
Sheebah, who is not new to Rwandan audiences, will perform some of her old and new hits including her recent collaboration with fellow Ugandan singer Pallaso, called Go Down Low, Twesana, Wadawa, Ndiwanjawulo, Ice Cream and Nkwatako.
The former Obsessions Girls member, who has established herself in the music industry as a dancehall artiste, promises a memorable performance at the festival. "I cannot wait to rock you at the "We Are One Summer Beach Fest”! Don’t forget we are going down this summer... we are in your area,” she says in the promo video.
The Team No Sleep singer, born to a Rwandan father and a Ugandan mother, will add spark to the evening to serenade music lovers.
Other artistes expected to perform include Active and Social Mulla and several deejays including Makeda, Pyfo, and Africano will spice up the show.
The organisers have promised a bigger and better fourth edition of the annual event.
"People should expect a lot from this year’s edition and should also look forward to dance to their favourite music since we’ll be having various deejays spicing up the night,” said DJ Africano.
This year’s edition will be hosted by local radio personality Phil Peter, who also promises to deliver nothing short of a night-long mind-blowing entertainment.
Held under the theme—We Are One, the festival attracts music lovers from Rwanda, East Africa and overseas. It also features live DJ acts from the DRC, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, and host country Rwanda.
The idea to start the festival was hatched in 2013, when Africano travelled from Johannesburg to play at the end of year Happy People event.
That time, it was held at the Tamu Tamu Beach, also in Gisenyi, and it was headlined by the late AK47 from Uganda and local rapper Jay Polly.
The following year, the festival secured not only a more premium venue -the Lake Kivu Serena Resort.
