Dear Editor,

I would like to congratulate all the Americans but mainly my brothers and sisters, the Americans on the victory of the previous American elections.

Not only has Barrack Obama made history as the first black American president, but he has upgraded the platform on which blacks stand.

Despite the terrible history that tainted the black race, we have managed to rise and shine. It was simply a perception that the black race is weaker, but frankly, I personally believe that we are and have always been a gifted race by nature.

Africa as a continent is blessed with a wide range of natural resources and the people are hardworking. There is no question about that.

I believe that as the new president of the United States of America, Obama will bring us more pride, especially as we live to see the change that he affirmed repeatedly during his campaigns.

Fellow Africans should however see this victory as a credit to the black race and work hard to achieve their full potential, instead of expecting new favours from the new American president. Congratulations once again!
