CYCLING CLUB FOR ALL (CCA), in collaboration with Gisagara District, have organised a one-day competition today, aimed at scouting future Team Rwanda riders.

Over 73 riders will compete in 63km (men) while women will cover 20km. Gisagara authorities say they want to make the race competitive for young riders to help attract many Rwandans to the sport. The race will have two categories, including above 20 years, and U20, both in men and women.

Talking to Saturday Sport, yesterday, the head of youth, sports and culture at the district, Dieudonne Twagirayezu, said, "We are looking for new riders for the Cycling Club for All (based in the district) and Team Rwanda, so we want to get the best possible result from the competition.”

"We want to help young riders to make the most of their potential for a better future. It is up to them to use the opportunity for their own good,” he said.

Last year’s race – the inaugural edition – was won by 25-year old Jean Claude Munyamahoro, with Mathieu Twizeyimana and Jean-Pierre Ahorukomeye finishing as first and second runners-up, respectively.
