AS the D-day for the popular Kigali Fashion Show approaches, preparations are in high gear.
On Sunday, over 200 people turned up for auditions but only 50 were selected by the casting team that included Rwanda's Next Supermodel winner Linca Amanda Kaneza, Julian Mutoni and Moses Turyahirwa.
The lucky 50 will hit the runway during the 7th edition of Kigali Fashion Show on June 24.
The show will also attract fashion designers from other countries like DR Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, US, India, South Sudan and Belgium.
The week-long event will start on June 18, and will include workshops, fittings and trial sessions for the models and designers as well as a dinner reception at Galaxy Hotel in Kiyovu before the grand finale at Century Park Hotel and Residences in Nyarutarama.
Meanwhile, the international designers are expected to arrive in Kigali on June 20 ahead of the show.
The Kigali Fashion Show promotes unique culture, and showcases the evolution of Rwanda fashion. It is also a platform to showcase local and international fashion designers to the world.
