Rwanda’s national long distance icon Dieudonne Disi will not be taking part in the two weeks national athletics training camp to be held in Ruhengeri.
According to national athletics coach Adolph Rukenkanya, Disi is currently based in training in Belgium where it is expected he will test himself against European best in various competitions on the European circuit.
Rukenkanya said that the date of the Ruhengeri camp is yet known as they are still waiting for financial support from Mijespoc.
"Some athletics are already training in Ruhengeri on individual basis but we are ready to start off the camp as soon as the finances are available. Probably this week,” he said.
The 10.000m national champion has embarked on rigorous training in preparation for next year’s Beijing Olympic Games.
In an e-mail message, Disi said, "Since I have achieved my best qualification time for next year’s Olympics, resting is not part of timetable. I must train harder than ever before in order to raise my form such that I can be able to contender for the 10.000m against the likes of Kenenisia Bekele.”
