Urban Boys, a local boy-band, launched its brand new video—My Rwanda, at Galaxy Hotel in Kigali, over the weekend.
The music video talks about the remarkable accomplishments in Rwanda over the past 22 years after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi— the resilience among Rwandans, economic empowerment and development made in various sectors. It also talks about peace, security, cleanliness, and other transformations in the country.
The trio of Humble Jizzo, Safi Madiba, and Nizzo Kaboss, also treated the crowd that included music producers, deejays, fellow musicians and journalists, to a dinner—where they discussed about the song and what can be done to support the music industry.
The video was produced in collaboration with Crown Paints Rwanda.
"Although we don’t earn a lot from music, we have ideas that can contribute to the development of our country. We’ve been struggling throughout our career but all we have achieved is because of this peaceful country, the people who understand our music, and the environment that allows us to freely work,” said Humble Jizzo.
"The video shows the significant progress Rwanda has made over the past 22 years,” he adds.
The group also performed the song to the adoring fans in a happy dance party, which ended at 11:40p.m.
Crown Paints’ Vipul Kapur, one of the sponsors of the video, said that he was honoured working with Urban Boys to produce something that brands Rwanda to the outside world, and that they will continue to support the local music industry to go to the next level.
