RE: "Senators call for fresh effort to curb brain drain in public health sector” (The New Times, May 25).

When they talk about problems of medical personnel in the country, they tend to concentrate mainly on doctors and nurses, but there are also other health cadres in allied health professionals who totally seem to be forgotten, yet they play a big role in the country's health services.

For instance, a number of clinical officers have been trained on government funds, but none is deployed yet.

In addition to that, even those health professionals who are employed, their actual qualifications are never considered in terms of remuneration; you find most of them put in same category of A1 salary, thus become a demotivating factor.
