Rwanda’s lady cricketers are set to tour Uganda early next month for a series of friendly games in preparation for a regional tournament that will be staged in Nairobi, Kenya this December.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) sponsored tournament has been dubbed Eastern Africa ICC Women’s tournament and is expected to merge four countries; Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and hosts Kenya. The 14-man contingent will comprise of thirteen players and one official.
After Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) agreeing to cater for all the team’s expenses during the tour, Rwanda Cricket Association (RCA)’s only burden is to foot the team’s travel costs to and from.
"UCA has agreed to take care of the team’s expenses so this reduces our task to the team’s transport costs to and from,” one RCA official noted.
It’s the first tour by the ladies’ national cricket team and RCA believes that it will boast the team’s confidence ahead of the grand tourney.
