Karongi residents turned up in big numbers for the Primus GumaGuma Super Star season 6 music competition over the weekend.

The Karongi road show was the second of this year’s annual music contest sponsored by BRALIRWA’s premier brand Primus.

Anita Pendo and Buryohe hosted the show which started at exactly 3pm, firing up the anxious crowd, in Rubengera town.

Allioni was the first on the stage performing her songs like Pole Pole, NiweMusimali, and Impinduka that saw the audience sing along with the female artiste.

Every artiste was supposed to perform only three songs of his choice. Karongi residents did not disappoint.

Jules Sentore was the second performer of the afternoon. The Gakondo singer put up a great performance with his traditional melodies. Sentore sang Koraakazi, Udatsikira and Ngera before he ushered on stage boy trio Urban Boys.

Urban Boys, considered among this year’s favourites, put up a powerful act compared to the previous road show in Gicumbi.

Clad in impressive attires, the trio of Safi, Nizzo and Humble Jizzo performed Till I Die, SoromaNsorome, and Yawe, which seemed popular with Karongi music lovers.

Bruce Melodie followed on stage and was welcomed by wild cheers. He maintained his status among the favourites as he controlled the stage.

The singer performed Ndakwanga, Ntujyunkinisha and Umutwe. His energetic performance and impressive vocals captivated residents of Karongi.

New comer Gaby Umutare took to the stage following the RnB artiste and performed Ntunkangure, Urangora, and Mesa kamwe, one of the most liked songs in Karongi. With his good vocals the, the singer managed to woo the crowd.

Danny Vumbi with back up dancers, this time round put up an energetic performance compared to his previous act in Gicumbi.

Also featuring for the first time, Vumbi thrilled the fans with some eye catching Congolese dance moves. Vumbi performed Ni danger, Baragowe, and Ni uwacu.

TBB.

Debutants TBB were the next on stage but didn’t manage to impress as they did during the Gicumbi’s Road show. The trio performed Biramvuna, Yampayeinka, and Vuzaingoma.

Tino, one of the group members kneeled down and requested the audience to vote for them.

Danny Nanone, the only male hip-hop/rap singer in the competition held an eclectic performance. Karongi’s residents gave him a rousing welcome and he took it up to himself to excite the crowd.

He performed delightful renditions of Njyendarapa, Imberen'inyuma ,which he features Bruce Melody, and Ikirori, which saw the people go wild as they helped him throughout the performance. His performance was among the best of the evening.

Young Grace, the only female rapper in the contest was the second last and she performed Super fly, Ataha He which is her new track, and ended with Hangover.

Last on stage was Christopher Muneza performing Agatima, Dutegerejeiki, and Byararangiye which seemed familiar in peoples’ ears because they sang along with the singer.

Muneza’s performance was also massive as people helped him throughout his performance.

The next show is on June 4 at Tapis Rouge in Nyamirambo, Nyarugenge district.
