After failing to avail an ambulance as hosts of a national league game against AS Kigali, Marines FC have been penalized.
The game which was supposed to be played at Umuganda Stadium on May 18, was called off after hosts, Marines FC failed to avail a standby ambulance at the venue.
Following the incident, Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA) has awarded the match winning points to AS Kigali.
According to the statement from FERWAFA, the decision was reached yesterday, after the Competitions Commission met to deliberate on the matter based on the match commissioner’s report and competition regulations governing Rwanda Football Federations.
AS Kigali were awarded 3 points and 3 goals to put the Kigali City sponsored side in fourth position on the log with 47 points, while Marines FC is ranked 11th with 26 points.
The league will continue today with only three games lined up. Gicumbi FC will be up against Sunrise FC in Gicumbi, Espoir FC host table leaders and defending champions, APR FC in Rusizi while Police FC will be hosting Amagaju FC at Kicukiro Stadium.
