Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation general manager, Eric Dusingizimana has said that the stadium will boost cricket development in the country when completed.

Speaking to Times Sport yesterday, Dusingizimana noted that considering the rate at which cricket is growing in the country, the stadium will provide a suitable environment to attract more youngsters to cricket.

Rwanda Cricket Association has managed to spread the game throughout the country and over 10,000 people young and old have been introduced to the sport.

According to Dusingizimana, this number will double once enough facilities are put in place including the construction of the national stadium.

He says that the stadium will attract international tournaments to Rwanda, and Rwandans will be able to see cricketers from across the region and even beyond Africa, which will increase their love for the game.

The construction is set to begin later this year and is expected to cost $1.2million (about Rwf950.2 million)Dusingizinama said that already Rwf475.2 million is available to start construction of the first phase.

"We are hopeful that the stadium will be constructed on time,” he said, adding that they have already contracted companies to do the work.
