The current Guinness Worlds Record for longest time spent batting in the net is held by an Indian, Virag Male, who batted for 50 hours.
As he’s been batting, bowlers have come from across the world. Former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, who is a huge cricket fan bowled on Wednesday morning accompanied by a host of British investors and the UK envoy to Rwanda.
The Sports and Cultural minister, Julienne Uwacu, Miss Rwanda Jolly Mutesi, Amavubi assistant coach, Jimmy Mulisa also bowled.
Participants of the ongoing World Economic Forum on Africa taking place in Kigali found some time and took part in the bowling sessions.
Cricket fans and the well-wishers have however bowled the most. Some people have spent nights at the Indoor stadium, cheering him on and making sure someone is bowling every other few seconds.
Speaking to the Times Sports before he entered into the competitions, the 29-year old Right Guards cricket club player said he is confident that he will make it and finish all the hours without resting apart from the five minutes given after an hour for refreshment
"We need to build the future of cricket in Rwanda, set up good cricket facilities as well as help improve the sport's image on the international stage. I will not give up till the last ball," Dusingizimana said.
Dusingizimana is one of the most experienced cricketers in Rwanda who started playing cricket in 2006 with Right Guards; he later went on to play for Young Tigers, Impala Titans and Dugout CC until 2014 when he rejoined the Right Guards.
He has been a key member of the national team since 2008 and helped the national team win the ICC division 3 tournaments in Accra, Ghana in 2011.
On the local scene, he has won various tournaments, including the 50-Overs Premier League in 2006 with Right Guards. He also scooped the player of the Tournament award in 2010 while playing for Impala Titans after helping them to the title as well as TwentyT20 in the same year
