Title hopefuls APR and Rayon Sports continue their battle for the National Football League title in what is turning out to be a thrilling season.

The two-horse race will continue today as leaders APR FC take on Gicumbi at Kigali Regional Stadium in Nyamirambo while second-placed Rayon Sports will battle Bugesera FC on Wednesday at the same venue.

Just one point behind APR, Rayon Sports, on 47, have the most solid defence in the league, having conceded just 7 goals in 21 matches and scored 37 while their archrivals and defending champions APR have conceded 15 and scored 30 goals in 22 matches.

Interim head coach Djuma Masudi admits that a win against Bugesera is not only important in terms of bragging rights for the fans but, most importantly, the three points are vital in their bid for the title.

APR’s Nizar Khanfir said, "We want to win every game because we are in a good position and our aim is to stay on top, so we must win every game ahead of us.”

APR FC lead the league table with 49 points following a 2-1 win against Sunrise FC on Saturday.

Rayon Sports maintained their chase for the silverware as they thrashed relegation battling side Rwamagana City FC 4-1 on Saturday. Mukura VS are in third position with 42 points after registering a 3-1 win over second from bottom AS Muhanga.

SC Kiyovu dropped to fifth spot with 38 points after suffering a 0-2 loss to Etincelles while Police FC remained sixth with 35 points.
