The survey released during a dissemination workshop in Kicukiro District shows a reduction in fertility levels, improvement family planning, nutrition, childhood and maternal mortality.
From the 13,497 women and 6,717 men from 12,699 households interviewed fertility rates went down to 4.2 per cent from 6.1 registered in 2005. Infant mortality went down from 90 per cent in 2005 to 32 deaths per 1000 live births in 2014/2015.
Dr Yusuf Murwangwa, the director general of the National Institute of Statistics NISR said that the findings supplement early studies as important tools for improving health services within Rwanda.
"Areas such as antenatal care, malnutrition and access of services have improved and the fact that different stakeholders in health circles are involved, these figures will provide proper direction to boost the quality of health services in the country,” said Murwanga. Details to follow
