Norwegian Tippeligaen

Sunday

Ham Kam   0-1  Molde

Olivier Karekezi’s Norwegian club Ham Kam have been relegated from the Norwegian Tippeligaen after losing their last game of the season thereby ending the campaign bottom of the table with 21 points in 26 matches.

Ham Kam were beaten 1-0 at home by Molde FK on Sunday thus returning to the lower division, just a season ago after being promoted.

In an e-mail to Times Sport sent before Sunday’s game, the Amavubi Stars skipper doubted his club’s chances of avoiding the drop.

"We have little chances to escape relegation but this doesn’t mean that my form will be affected,” Karekezi said.

The former APR star, 25, added that since Ham Kam paid a lot of money on his transfer from Swedish first division side Helsingborg early in the season, he believes he will not stay at the relegated club as his stay may be a financial burden on the club.

"Rosenborg and Energie Cottbus are the possible clubs that would be eager to sign me and I am only waiting to see which one of them provides the best offer,” noted the midfielder cum striker.

Meanwhile, Stabaek won the Norwegian title after accumulating 54 points in 26 league fixtures as Aalesund and Ham Kam were relegated to the lower league.

Playing as an attacking midfielder or forward, Karekezi signed for Swedish side Helsingborg IF in 2005, leaving his home club APR Fc. He scored five goals in 18 matches during the 2005 season.

In 2006, he scored 11 goals for Helsingborg and thereby, became their top scorer in Allsvenskan before his move to Hamarkameratene (Ham Kam).
