RE: "Rwanda’s regulatory environment in support of green urban development” (The New Times, May 5).

Rwanda is a serious country when it comes to environment conservation. This story has spread all over not only in Africa but also globally.

I happened to attend a meeting on risk management in Tanzania where the CEO of Old Mutual Emerging Market was preaching how he found Rwanda clean, orderly and environmentally friendly that he was shocked to see airport workers at Kigali International Airport searching his bags and getting all his shirts from plastic bags to dispose the banned plastic bags in the country. This is very nice and it impresses us in diaspora to hear such appreciation compliments from non-Rwandan people.

My request to the responsible authorities is to work on the rough road from Gasenyi to Nyarubuye parish; it’s a very nice road with great hilly view. If trees that attract shadows are planted on both sides of this road from the main road to the parish, trees like mangoes, avocados…the purpose is to let the road user in future enjoy walking rather than using automobiles and to add value to the nicest view of the road and its hills. If so done, I can imagine how sweet that road will be—like a gate into heaven.
