Gor Mahia FC’s Rwanda international Abouba Sibomana has welcomed competition from Kenya U-20 international Eric Marcelo Ouma for the left back position at the club in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).
Sibomana, who joined Gor Mahia in January 2015 from Rayon Sports, had a fantastic debut campaign at K’ogalo, helping the team win the KPL title and Top 8 Cup as well as to a second place finish in the CECAFA Kagame Cup.
Fast forward to the 2016 campaign, the Amavubi player has had to contend for a place in the first team with Ouma, who has started the last two matches; the league tie against Bandari and the Top 8 match against Ushuru.
"Eric is a very good player and I am happy that he is performing well. Such competition is very good for me because it keeps me on my toes. It ensures that I give 100%, both in training and games, because if I don’t perform then I risk losing my place in the team.” Sibomana told Sokka.
He noted that, "As a player you have to ask yourself what you are not doing right when you are dropped to the bench. I’m in a good form and everything is going on very well in training.”
Gor Mahia are currently in sixth on the league table with 17 points from 11 matches, seven points behind leaders, Tusker, who have played a game more.
