RUSIZI - Vendors in Rusizi district have doubled the prices of MTN airtime vouchers as the franchise in the area runs out of stock.

By press time, a Rwf500 airtime voucher had shot to Rwf1,000. That of Rwf1,500 was selling at Rwf2,000 while the Rwf2,500 voucher had hiked to Rwf3,000.

The vendors who talked to The New Times said they normally buy airtime cards by first depositing money at Rwanda Commercial Bank (BCR) Kamembe branch.

A senior manager at MTN who preferred not to be named said their upcountry distributor had run out of stock. The officer however said they are going to intervene.
