After finishing in a respectable fourth position at the Africa Women Club Championships last week in Tunisia, Rwanda Revenue Authority will be looking to replicate the same form on the local scene when they take on St Aloys in Rwamagana.

The Rwanda league champions lost to defending champions Ahly of Egypt 3-0 (25-10, 25-15 and 25-9) at the semi-final stage. RRA made the biggest surprise in the competition’s history by becoming the first Rwandan team to reach the last four in the women category.

"We want to win the game and hold on to our top position. I think we are in good shape to win. We are well prepared mentally and physically,” said RRA head coach Jean-Luc Ndayikengurukiye.

RRA left attacker Charlotte Nzayisenga was named the best server at the just-concluded 2016 Women’s African Championships, held at Sidi Bousaid in Tunis, Tunisia.

RRA lead the table with 18 points after six matches and have one game in hand, followed by APR with 15 points, while Eugene Ngendahayo’s team St Alloys are bottom without a point.

In the men’s category, only one match will be played, between title hopefuls APR, who visit Lycee de Nyanza.

Other matches between IPRC-South and Rayon Sports, Umubano Blue Tigers vs INATEK and Kirehe vs Kigali Volleyball Club have been postponed to enable the Rwanda Beach Volleyball compete in the 2016 Olympic Games qualifiers in Tunisia.

Meanwhile, Rwanda lost to hosts Tunisia 1-2 in the first match before bouncing back to win their second game against Gambia 2-0 on Thursday. On Friday, Paul Bitok’s team stunned Egypt 2-0 to boost their chances of qualifying for the Rio Games.
