Nzayisenga named best server as Ahly are crowned African champs

Rwanda Revenue Authority left attacker Charlotte Nzayisenga was named the best server at the just concluded 2016 Women’s African Championships held at Sidi Bousaid in Tunis, Tunisia.

Ahly of Egypt defeated hosts Carthage in a five-set thriller 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-13) in the final on Saturday to retain the title.

Ahly broke the competition record with 8 crowns under their name, against 7 for their arch rivals Kenya Pipeline.

The Tunisian champions Carthage, who had 8 national team players in their squad, achieved their best ever finish in their history with the silver medal after their third position in the 2015. Pipeline beat Revenue Authority 3-1 (23-25, 25-14, 25-22 and 25-17) in the bronze medal match.

Egypt’s Shams finished 5th after they beat Sfax of Tunisia 3-1 (23-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-17), while Kenya Prisons finished in 7th place after they cruising past Algeria’s GSP 3-1 (16-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-19).
