APR FC came from behind to beat bottom side Rwamagana City 2-1 at Rwamagana Police ground on Saturday to keep hold of top spot in the national football league.
Fabien Twagirayezu gave the hosts a first half lead but the reigning champions recovered to score twice in the second half through midfielders Djihad Bizimana and Michel Ndahinduka.
Nizar Khanfir’s side remained on top of the table with 46 points, four clear of second-placed Rayon Sports who beat Police FC 3-1 later in the evening.
Rwamagana City FC remainsbottom of the 16-team league table standing with 11 points, level with AS Muhanga who lost 2-1 to against 10-man AS Kigali at Kigali Regional Stadium.
It was the first win in seven for Eric Nshimiyimana’s AS Kigali, who secured maximum points thanks to Ernest Sugira’s long range shot in the 27th minute and Rodriguez Murengenzi in the 85th minute. AS Muhanga equalized through Ibrahim Ndikumasabo in the 70th minute.
AS Kigali ended the game with ten players after Ratif Bishira was sent off after getting a second yellow card in the second half.
Elsewhere, Musanze bounced back from the 3-1 midweek loss to SC Kiyovu to beat Espoir 2-1 thanks to Frank Lomami and Musa Uwamungu, while Elias Janvier Baroribwami netted for Espoir.
Alphonse Gatera’s Espoir finished with ten players after Baroribwami was sent off at the stoke of first half.
Marines lost 1-2 against in-form SC Kiyovu at Umuganada Stadium in Rubavu. Yves Rwasamanzi’s team remains in third position with 38 points.
Haruna Muvunyi gave Abdul Kalim Nduhirabandi’s side the lead before the visitors came from behind to win the game, thanks to goals from half Cameroonian Henry Pao and Andre Lomami, who scored his 12th goal of the season.
