RRA beat Shams 3-1 (25-21, 10-25, 29-27, 25-18) to become the first ever Rwandan side to reach the semifinals of the competition. Last year they finished sixth.
Hosts Carthage (Tunisia), Pipelines (Kenya) and defending Champions Ahly are the other teams in the semifinals. Carthage will play Pipeline while Ahly face RRA.
Defending champions Ahly came from a set behind 1-2 to beat the struggling GSP of Algeria 3-2 (32-30, 23-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-6). The game went on for more than two hours.
Pipeline of Kenya cruised past Sfax of Tunisia 3-1 (25-15, 25-14, 15-25, 25-17) to claim their third consecutive semifinal berth.
Carthage playing with massive home support eliminated Kenya Prisons, 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 25-27, 25-18) to book their place in the semifinals.
