On Tuesday 26th April, Bolloré Africa Logistics Rwanda staff took some time off their schedule and visited the Ntarama Genocide Memorial Centre in Bugesera District - Eastern Province to pay tribute to victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
The group led by the Managing Director, Mr. Gilles SCHWARZ, toured different parts of the memorial, heard testimonies about how Tutsi were hacked or shot to death at the site in 1994, and laid wreaths in honour of the victims.
Guiding them around the site, Marie Chantal Umuganwa, a CNLG employee, told them before 1994, the genocide had already started in Bugesera where in 1992 many Tutsi were killed.
Before the Genocide, Ntarama Memorial site was a catholic–run. Remains of over 4,000 victims are rested there.
