MUSANZE — The woman whose husband beheaded her co-wife before setting fire on her house, has died.

Immaculate Nyirambagare, whose body had been badly deformed by the fire died at Ruhengeri Hospital.

Medics say she died of the serious injuries she sustained in the inferno.

Dr John Karake, who attended to her, said she died due to third degree burns, in the chest which affected her internal organs and the second degree burns over her body including burnt muscles, which counted for 40 percent of her body and this caused serious infections which later led to her death.

The deceased was burnt in a fire set by her husband, Pangras Majyambere.

Sources said the man woke up at about midnight and beheaded one of his three wives, using an axe.

He then used fuel to set fire on the deceased’s house- in which their four-year old son died.

The deceased, aged 31 was the youngest of his wives.

The man survived being lynched by angry residents by handing himself to Kinigi police from where he was transferred to Ruhengeri Central Prison where he is currently detained.
