Rwanda women league champions Rwanda Revenue Authority will be looking to pick wins against Carthage (Tunisia), Ndejje (Uganda) and Mechaal Bejaia (Algeria) in Pool A to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2016 Women’s African Club Championship.

This year’s edition, which has attracted a record 17 teams since the competition began in 1986, started last evening and will run through April 30 in the Tunisian capital, Tunis.

"We are aware of the challenge ahead and we know we are facing champions from other countries, however, we have beenpreparing really well and looking forward to putting on a good performance,” head coach Jean Luc Ndayikengurukiye said.

Among the favourites for the crown are Kenya’s Pipeline, defending champions Egypt’s Ahly, as well as Prisons of Kenya. The 2015 Bronze medallists Carthage, Algeria’s GSP and Cameroon’s FAP are also among the teams to watch.

Coach Ndayikengurukiye’s team begins their campaign today against Mechaal Bejaia.
